Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the first ODI match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. With this win, Bangladesh have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
Chasing a small target of 115 runs, Bangladesh reached 115/2 in just 15.1 overs. Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim played a brilliant unbeaten innings of 67 runs from 42 balls, hitting seven fours and five sixes. He shared a strong partnership with Najmul Hossain Shanto, who scored 27 runs.
Pakistan got an early breakthrough when Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed Saif Hassan for 4 runs in the third over. However, Bangladesh continued to score quickly and comfortably completed the chase.
Earlier in the match, Bangladesh bowlers dominated after winning the toss and choosing to field first. Pakistan were bowled out for 114 runs in 30.4 overs.
Fast bowler Nahid Rana was the star performer, taking five wickets and putting Pakistan under pressure from the start. Pakistan openers Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat added 41 runs for the first wicket before Rana dismissed Farhan.
Rana continued his impressive spell by removing Shamyl Hussain, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Rizwan, and Salman Agha, completing his five-wicket haul.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz also contributed with the ball, taking three wickets, including Hussain Talat and Shaheen Afridi.
For Pakistan, Faheem Ashraf fought hard and scored 37 runs, helping the team cross the 100-run mark, but the total was still too small to defend.
Bangladesh comfortably chased the target and secured a convincing victory in the opening match of the series.
